A. Getting to Know the ClaPIE Web Course Menu

The ClaPIE (Current Issues and Policies in Education) web course consists of several main menus designed to support your learning process:

Home: The Home menu serves as the main page of the web course. It provides information about ClaPIE, access to learning materials covering various current issues and policies in education, and information about the web course developers.
Midterm and Final Exams: The Midterm Exam (UTS) and Final Exam (UAS) menus provide access to the midterm and final assessment sessions. Access to each assessment is available according to the learning timeline established with your instructor in class.
Learning Instructions: The Learning Instructions menu provides guidance to help you navigate and participate in the web course. It includes a guide to using the web course and a guide to using the Discussion Room through Google Groups.

B. How to Use the ClaPIE Web Course

Access the Learning Materials

Start your learning journey from the Home menu, then select the learning material you would like to explore. Each material covers various current issues and policies in education through a series of learning materials and activities that you can complete independently.

Explore the Materials and Activities

Each topic includes a variety of learning resources and activities, such as reading materials, videos, news articles, discussion prompts, exercises, and other learning activities. Explore each resource and complete the activities according to the topic and issue being discussed.

Follow the Multiliteracies Pedagogy Learning Flow

Each material in ClaPIE is designed based on the Multiliteracies Pedagogy framework to guide your learning progressively: Situated learning → Overt instruction → Critical framing → Transformed practice

Through this learning flow, you will be guided to understand an issue within its context, explore relevant concepts, consider different perspectives, critically analyze the issue, and connect your understanding to real-world educational contexts. You do not need to memorize each stage. Simply follow the materials and activities in the order provided.

Follow the Instructions Carefully

Read and follow the instructions provided for each activity carefully. Make sure you understand what you need to do before completing an activity or moving on to the next section.

Use the Web Course Navigation

Use the available navigation tools to move between sections of the web course:

Next → Continue to the next section.
Previous/Back → Return to the previous section.
Menu → View the available learning materials and sections

C. How to Participate in Discussions through Google Groups

For some learning topics, you will be directed to participate in group discussions through Google Groups. You will be asked to respond to statements or questions related to the topic being discussed.

Access the Discussion Room: For topics that include a discussion activity, click the “Go to Discussion Room” icon.
Join the Group:After being redirected to Google Groups, click the “Join group” button next to the discussion group title.
Use a Google Account: Use a recognizable Google account for your course activities. You may use your personal Google account or an account specifically designated for academic purposes. At this stage, you can also adjust your Google profile settings and choose whether or not to display your profile information in the group.
Click “Join Group”: After confirming that you are using the appropriate account, click “Join Group” to join the discussion group.
Open the Discussion Topic: Once you have joined the group, you can view the discussion topics or questions provided for the corresponding learning material.
Write Your Response: Read the discussion question or statement carefully, then write your response based on what you have learned, base of data and your own perspective.
Include Your Identity: At the beginning of each response, use the following format: Name – Class/Year of Entry. Example: Nadya – English Education 2023
Submit Your Response: Before submitting, make sure your response addresses the discussion question and follows the given instructions. Then, click “Post” or “Send” to submit your response.
Engage with Other Participants: After posting your response, you can read other participants’ responses and reply to their ideas. Use the discussion room to exchange ideas, broaden your perspectives, and engage in constructive discussion.
